Uncle Roddy
Biography
Uncle Roddy was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He spent the major part of his young life in Aala Park until the age of 5, Kalihi until the age of 11, and the latter and most influential part of his life until adulthood in Palolo Valley. He moved to Los Angeles, California in December 1973 after serving in the US Navy and Viet Nam.
Uncle Roddy is very involved in the Hawaiian/Polynesian Community. He is the founder and coordinator of the San Dimas Ho’olaule’a in Southern California which takes place every second weekend in June, producer of Polynesian concerts importing entertainers from the islands, agent, and one of the top Hawaiian performers in California; supports promotes Polynesian festivals, concerts, events, activities, vendors and entertainers; offers concerts, entertainment, and luaus; and supports Hawaiian/Polynesian organizations and businesses.
Uncle Roddy loves sports and music. He is a retired Superintenden/Los Angeles County Ranger and was a high school coach, captain of his sports teams, the leader of his bands, PTF President of his daughters' schools, a real estate and stock broker to name a few. He was named 2008 CIF Basketball Official of the Year for his dedication to the sport. Uncle Roddy is committed to building character, especially with youth and to prepare them to contribute to society. Uncle Roddy was recognized for his commitment as a leader in supporting community by the White House in 2016.
Uncle Roddy is a family man. He especially loves his wife Suzan, two daughters, Tara Malia and Camille Ho'olehuanani, and grandchildren, Haley Mariko Hoku Wong and Jacob Gregory Keaka Wong. He loves his mom, Adrienne Gregory, his three sisters and brother, family, friends, and has much aloha for people. He misses his dad, Vasco Gregory, and his Popo (grandmother), Violet Young.
